Thanks again Oak. Gausman today, 6 batters and 6 Ks (3 of those coming in an immaculate inning). Last 3 apps in Reds bullpen: 5 IP, 1 H, 9 K.

Oak, you boy Acuna got a little star struck watching his hit.

If Acuna played for the Dodgers or Phillies..or Nats..I'd probably not like him. He needs to tone it down a bit, so I have no problems with yesterday. I did watch closely at all the celebrations and dugout high fives..and after the win..and he wasn't around. So hopefully he wasn't pouting in the clubhouse..when I'd prefer or expect him on the bench or railing with the team.

The NL Wild Card chase looks intense
Nationals hold the 1st wild card Cubs hold the 2nd wild card - 1.5 games behind Then the Brewer,s, Phillies, Mets are all 2 games behind the Cubs
So 5 teams within 3.5 games with about 38ish games left.
Less exciting in the AL but it will be a dogfight between the Indians, Rays and As, fighting for the 2 spots and separated by just 2.5 games.

I think the Nats end up catching the Braves. Braves lost Markakis, Inciarte & Riley for 6+ weeks, Swanson has been out 20+ games and more to come..and they just put down Camargo to triple A..that's 3 outfielders and utility guy that was starting for Swanson..they'll fade.

I think the Braves hang on. Their bullpen has been disastrous, like ours, but they still managed to win 6 of the last 10.
I have no idea what's going to happen in the Central. I expect the Cards and Cubs to be at the top but no clue who wins it. I think we can beat the Cards but we seem to drop every game on the road we can.

The depleted Braves outfield did pick up the great Billy Hamilton off waivers. But I'm sure he's just for pinch running and late innings defensive replacement. It's a shame he can't hit.

According to reports coming out of the Dominican Republic, former MLB players Octavio Dotel and Luis Castillo have been arrested in what authorities have described as “the largest operation against organized crime” in the country. Dotel and Castillo have been linked to a drug trafficking and money laundering network headed by César Emilio Peralta, who is an alleged drug kingpin.
Athletes..even like Big Papi..just need to stay away..going back where you come from is just a target and nothing but trouble.

Mike Trout is at .300ba 42hrs 98rbis with 34 games left and well on his way to his 3rd MVP Award (with an absurd 4 runner-ups).
And the Angels are 63-65
Kind of sad to see this generational type talent likely finish his 9th season having made the postseason 1 time, where the Angels got swept in 2014 in the 1st round.
But hey, he got PAID.

I kinda honor Trout for locking up long term and not pressuring the Angels to trade him or use his leverage like a lot of superstars are doing. It does suck though because I can't remember watching an Angels game in like 3 years. Even when they are on National TV, they are just dull to me. But what he is doing is insane.
Long as he doesn't ever end up a Yankee or Cardinal, I'm cheering for the guy.

Your boy Darvish got roughed up in the 6th but we managed to pull it out. I just saw a crazy stat. In his last 9 starts, he has 71 Ks and only 2 walks.

That was a big win..they needed that after blowing it twice. Cubs don't scare me at all really.. if they hadn't got Castellanos they'd be about 3-4 games back. He would be huge right now if Braves had traded for him. Nats are on a roll..and getting Max back

and Acuna hit another one a mile..and watched it, mainly because that's what he does, but Marlins hit him again last game. But fans took notice that Snitker didn't congratulate him when he came in the dugout..as he didn't really learn his lesson from last time watching it.

you don't want to play the Braves right now. They're rolling..and the bullpen has actually started to get hot. and Josh Donaldson may be working his way to a contract for a few years with the Braves, he's really came on. and Acuna & Freeman will both finish in top 4 in MVP.
Dodgers suck and would have been nice if Cubbies atleast got 1 vs the Nats.

Nats are a hot team too. They killed us this weekend with small ball especially in games 1 & 2. Got up early and our bats just fell dead. Makes this series versus the Mets huge. Not only to try to catch ground against the Cards but falling behind makes the wild card even more crowded. Good thing is the Cards play the Brewers.

yea, Nats have been mashing the last couple weeks, I still think they are more dangerous than the Braves. Kershaw is hot too, and Ryu has come back to earth a little. That Wild Card is crazy crowded, glad the Braves have enough breathing room to not have to watch that on a daily basis.

Quick shoutout: I know it's been lost in us not being good and the multiple "fun runs" by guys (Deitrich at the beginning of the season, Aquino now), but Eugenio Suarez has hit a HR in 4 straight games and has 38 on the season...all for the low low price of one season of Alfredo "Big Pasta" Simon. Thanks again Detroit!

yea I actually looked him up yesterday when I saw my man Freddie Freeman (making a strong case for MVP) was behind this Suarez guy in homers by 1. I don't know where all their money is tied up to besides the ridiculous Votto contract..but they have pieces..they just need to land a couple free agents to get in the 10 games above .500 and playoff hunt.

Oak always gotta put his Braves in there somewhere LMAO.
Lot of the Reds money is tied up in dead weight. They're eating 14 million for Matt Kemp this year, 9 for Tanner Roark and another 7 each to Yasiel Puig and Scooter Gennett. They are even paying 4 million to Ken Griffey Jr in money he deferred lol. But that team is is coming up and will be a threat in the next couple of seasons with their young talent.

lol I don't know what you're trying to say Vars
on another note..Mike Soroka, should be 16-3 if the bullpen didn't suck and he get bad luck with no run support
Future Cy Young!
Nats I'm worried about..

But that team is is coming up and will be a threat in the next couple of seasons with their young talent. Fingers fucking crossed you are right. Ownership has always been a big problem here (may I direct you down the street to Paul Brown Stadium if you dont believe me). When the Reds had their window from 2010-2013, ownership refused to spend for the final pieces (playing Ryan Ludwick in LF instead of going after Marlon Byrd, who then went to division rival Pittsburgh) and who then dragged their feet disassembling that team for a rebuild (instead opting to give big $ and big year contracts to Votto and Homer Bailey). They refused to sell assets at their top value for sometimes frivolous reasons (refusing to sell Zack Cozart, Jay Bruce and Todd Frazier because we were hosting the ASG in '15, refusing to wait out the Chapman DV charges and selling him for pennies to NY who in turn flipped him to Vars' Cubs for a perennial AS SS in Torres). Ownership vowed to spend money last offseason. They delivered. So I'm cautiously optimistic they will actually chase above average players that might help us in 2020 FA and trade markets.

Ownership and/or management issues suck. I lived through poor management with the Cubs for years. Always chasing after the big names and overspending for tier 2 talent. Killing your farm system in the process with bad trades. I'm always a fan of when teams stand pat and trust the process. Reds definitely have the talent and despite being in a tough division, they can definitely challenge for the next spot. I love my Cubs but I'm expecting them to ride this out 1-2 more seasons and then retool. Theo has eluded to wanting to rebuild the farm system and I expect Maddon is gone after this year or at best, gets a 1-2 year extension. It wouldn't even shock me if in 2 years they traded Kris Bryant to avoid giving him a big deal and trying to use those pieces to rebuild the system. I hope not but his price tag is going to be ridiculous and he's really no longer the face of the franchise. Baez is.

Remember last week when the hype train was running loud for the Mets!...yea..back to back series sweeps and 6 losses in a row kind of killed that momentum. Now they can go back to have an excuse to fire the coach.
Big sweep for the Cubs, Lester needed a good outing.

Remember when the Mets got hot, actually became a buyer at the trade deadline and worked their way into thick of the wild card race?
I do because I said the Mets were going to find a way to mess things up because that's just what they do.
Enter the current 6 game losing streak.
Now a full 5 games outside the 2nd wild card with 3 teams between them and the Cubs.
Luckily it's NFL time and soon NBA time, so I have no more reason to even bother quasi-following them.

So is Babe Ruth errr Castellanos just a rental for the Cubs? I think he's a free agent..and he's going to cash in for sure. I knew he was a stud ready to get out of Detroit.
