Tough loss. This is why I never count out the Cards.
And Acuna is making headlines again for the wrong reasons.

This is the thing I love about the NLDS and also the thing I hate if my team is involved. And that's a 5 game series.

Hate it, should be up 4-0 against those clowns Folty better go all 9 Cardinals are just a team you can never count out. I feel like no matter what year it is, they always have some crafty veteran that comes up big. Didn't understand why the Astros went with Verlander on short rest on the road. Trust the rest of your starters and stop looking at the Yankees.

This is what I was saying about the Cards. They're just that well-run organization that finds a way.
Can you imagine if the Astros and the Dodgers lose their opening round?
I mean part of me wouldn't mind seeing a Rays vs Cardinals World Series simply for how unexpected it is.

What's amazing is that the Cards scored those 10 runs without a single home run. Unheard of these days.

Dave Roberts with the mind-blowing decision to trot Chokeshaw back in the 8th.. he's too loyal.. only positive is that the Dodgers won't lose the World Series again.. Joe Kelly helping to end back to back Dodger post seasons

Dave Roberts is taking just as much of the heat as Kershaw/Kelly, if not more so from what I've read. Deservedly so. His in-game decisions were certainly baffling. The Kershaw thing was just dumb loyalty to a pitcher whose name carries more weight than his pitches these days. I was frankly mind-boggled he left Kelly in there after they purposely loaded the bases. Hearing Roberts defend his pitching decisions this morning just made my head hurt. Another decision Roberts made that was beyond stupid was after benching AJ Pollock because he was utterly awful - 0 for 12 with 10 strikeouts entering Game 5 - with the Dodgers down 4 and needing offense, Roberts puts him out there..... and he strikes out. I mean, no one saw that coming, right?
What's laughable in all this was the big pockets Dodgers had Pollock and Kelly were their big ticket signings this past offseason. Pollock was a player literally no one thought the team needed yet the team gave him 4 years 50M. That he had a subpar injury plagued season should have surprised no one. Kelly was given a 3 year deal worth up to 33M. The guy who had a regular season ERA of 4.20+ in 4 of the last 5 seasons, including 2018..... but hey, he was strong in the postseason, right? Until now of course. Whoops.
Yesterday one of my friends was saying he wanted the Dodgers to lose so they could do a firesale. Roberts has to be fired. Beyond that though, not sure that the team blows it up. I think anyone thinking the team will trade Kershaw is kidding themselves. Then again, never say never.

Washington vs St. Louis
I honestly see this as a toss-up but betting sites slightly favor Washington.

I can't see the Dodgers going for a firesale though. Probably will bring in a new voice and it's some speculation that Maddon is a name they may look at though earlier reports say he prefers the Angels job.

Kershaw
169-74 record 2.44 ERA 2464 strikeouts 8 All-star appearances 3 CY-Young 1 MVP At age 31, he has ample time to further bolster these stats. Regular season stats. I doubt he gets to 300 wins but I think 260 to 270 wins 3500 strikeouts (which would be top 10 all-time) is a very feasible final career tally, dependent on health/longevity of course.
Postseason 9 years making it, 16 series 9-11 record 4.43 era 0 WS titles It'd be unfortunate if he couldn't find postseason success by the time he is done and his Hall of Fame career is overshadowed

The Nationals making the World Series the year after Bryce Harper leaves would be great. And, of course, taking out St. Louis on their way would great too.

Then watch the Cubbies hire Gabe Kapler lol I've always been anti-Yankees so my hope now is an Astros-Nats series. From what I understand, it's David Ross's job to lose. Cubs really like him and unless Kapler and Espada blow them away, I think Ross gets the job. Management wants him and reports here is his interview went great. He always seemed like a happy-go-lucky type of player but listening to Tim Kurkjian and local outlets here, he was the guy that got into everyone's face during the 2015 and 2016 season. They said players would avoid him because he didn't mind holding the young guys accountable and they say that's the main thing Theo and Jed Hoyer want from a manager. Plus he'll be cheaper than Giradi and Kapler which I also hear is a concern with ownership.

I like Ross.. liked him alot as a Brave..but he talks to much so I dont like him on ESPN or calling games. I think he'll get the job..not sure obviously if hes qualified.

The Angels are closing in on an agreement to bring aboard Joe Maddon as the team’s manager, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network

Not unless they can sign Cole and or a couple starters or 3..Their rotation is, well I've never heard of any of them and their ace had 4 wins. So spend some money on a few starters

Not unless they can sign Cole and or a couple starters or 3..Their rotation is, well I've never heard of any of them and their ace had 4 wins. So spend some money on a few starters Cole has been on their radar for years. He'll likely price himself out of Houston especially after the run he has and he's from California. I think he ends up their big splash free agent. Heaney and Ohtani probably round out the next slots. I also heard they make try to make a play for King Felix or Jon Lester to round out the rotation. But I think Maddon will get the best out of the positional players not named Trout. If they tighten up that rotation, they'll be much better.

Forgot about Ohtani. I can see Lester following Maddon, or I can see Maddon getting some of "his guys" I'd like to see Trout batting 3rd. and if Upton has a bounce back year where he can protect Trout..bat him 4th with Pujols 5th. Simmons I think is a typical 2 man in the lineup.. but they have pieces..it's just that rotation.

The Angels have good offensive players but yeah, that rotation is very lacking.
I hope for Trout's sake that Maddon can turn this ship around because it's such a waste to see him perform at such an elite level year in and year out and see his team suck year in and year out.
As an aside Pujols is now up to 656 hrs (6th All Time) 2075 rbis (4th All Time) 1828 runs (17th) 3202 hits (15th)
Obviously he is a shell of his former self and vastly overpaid due 59M the next 2 years BUT at least he is out there, playing, hitting and contributing. I mean, I've seen bloated contracts end up far worse than this. I mean, just ask the Angels about Josh Hamilton.

Hated to see CC go out like that. maybe they'll let him go out to the mound to call on relief from bullpen or something for one last call.
