while the bullpen is i believe worst in the major..Edwin Diaz sucks. I hate the Nats and sadly watched the Mets debacle last night. But they should have tried harder to move him at deadline to get out of the contract.
Saw the Angels have fell back into a wasted MVP season for Trout at 9 games under .500
Freeman for MVP!

So is Babe Ruth errr Castellanos just a rental for the Cubs? I think he's a free agent..and he's going to cash in for sure. I knew he was a stud ready to get out of Detroit. He is a FA. But the rumor here is they want to bring him back. He's played great and fit right in. Cubs may take on some salary next year because they are planning for their network contract to kick in by 2021.

so who's coaching the injury plagued free falling Cubbies next year?
how about Keuchel's last 6 starts 5-0 with a .97 era Only way they can beat Dodgers if they out dual Kershaw
Met's are hot again..Wild card is getting wild

It wouldn't shock if they go the former player route though. It's a strong sense here in Chicago that they will probably look to retool a bit. Last 2 losses were inexcusable. We'll probably still backslide into the 2nd wild card someway but Lester and Hamels are pretty much at the end. I'm just happy we brought up Nico because he and Baez will a great infield for years to come.

7 games to finish the season for the Cubs vs Cardinals is ridiculous
Brew Crew have Pirates, Padres, Reds, Rockies
If offense goes back to being Cubs offense (besides last 3-4 game)
advantage Brewers
Cubs up a game, and 2 back of Cards It'll come down to last series

Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Felipe Vazquez was arrested in Pittsburgh for computer pornography -- solicitation of a child, and providing obscene material to minors, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement announced Tuesday.
Vazquez, 28, is accused of having a reported sexual relationship with a 13-year-old girl from Lee County, Florida. According to the FDLE, the girl, now 15, allegedly has continued to have a relationship with Vazquez via text messaging and received a video from him in July in which he is shown performing a sex act.
Vazquez also allegedly suggested in text messages the two would meet for sex once his season is over.
smh, damn, great reliever now his career is over, which is the least of his problems/troubles

I really wanted Kimbrell back in ATL...I hope he gets his arm right in offseason Wild Card race is getting wild

I had a feeling once we didn't win in the 9th we would lose the game. I don't even fault Kimbrell as much as I fault Maddon for putting him in that situation after just returning from the IL. Maddon likes to throw his players into the fire and get their confidence up but these games are too big to gamble. He did the same with Strop months ago when he returned and he blew the game. Huge loss.
At this point, I think it'll come down to the Cubs and Nationals for the 2nd Wild Card spot. Brewers are hot right now winning 12 of the last 13 and they have a cupcake schedule. Nationals, however, have the Marlins but after that the Phillies and Indians. Phillies is always a tough matchup for them and the Indians have something to play for. But of course, we have the Cardinals again.

I'd love to see the National not make it. I'd rather the Braves play the Cubs in 1st round than the Cardinals. So I'm hoping Cubs get the division lol. I want Dodgers/Nats in first round if Nats get in
* Vars gimme your 5th keeper lol

Yeah that's not happening lol. Cubs would almost need to win the next 5 of 6 versus the Cards to win the division, IMO. With the way our season is going, it's possible and it's equally as possible we'll drop the next 5 of 6 versus them.
Dodgers don't really scare me. That bullpen is shaky and has shown to be even more shaky when the playoffs come. And they beat up on the weakest division in baseball. The 2nd place team not even finish the season .500. Brewers don't scare me either. They can't keep this up through the playoffs. Cards and Braves are the only teams I think the Cubs would struggle to beat. As far as the Nats, I just think it'd be cool to see them make it the year after Harper leaves and the Phillies are at home.
My 5th keeper is Jrue Holiday.

3 games out. It's pretty much over. Cubs need to retool. We need some young arms as Lester and Hamels are at the end. Hopefully Kimbrel gets it together this offseason. He's got good stuff but I think the time off seriously hurt him.

Another year, another losing season. That makes 6 consecutive now. There were a few high spots; Aquino, Deitrich, the two Hell in a Cell matches vs the Pirates, Suarez shooting for 50 HRs. Ultimately the biggest positive is that I'm taking credit for keeping the Cubbies out if the miss the playoffs (I know there's a lit of reasons, but damn it I need SOMETHING so I'm counting it!)

The NL wild card race was exciting. Was. Then the Cubs lost 6 in a row and the Mets, DBacks, Phillies went 5-5, 5-5 and 3-7 the last 10 to basically fall way behind a surging Brewers team - who has been without Yelich since the 10th.
So really it's just the Nationals and Brewers battling over who has home field for the wild card game.
In the AL, it's still interesting...

First time in a while MLB season has not been fun for me. At this point, I can't see a way Maddon comes back and it wouldn't shock me again if Theo makes some major moves. The only safe bet I see is Baez, Contreras and Hoerner.
So right now I root for the Braves to come out the NL. Anybody but the Cards and Ryan Braun. I hope he stays ringless forever.

That's my boy Vars! Chop on! But Bravos are limping into the playoffs..Acuna out until Game 1..Freeman has been out with elbow..4-5 starters have turned to trash, and 2 bench players are out for year..Cards are hot..Could be over in 4 and I'll be sulking and complaining for a few weeks www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/09/mlbtr-poll-cubs-biggest-roster-need.htmlWhat's your vote? I voted rotation..because Lester is about done, Hamels is done..Yu is going to be a 4+ era guy. I'd get rid of everybody 37+ years or older..starting with manager. Resign the White Sox new comer guy at all costs. Try to find a taker for Hayward to help with Salary..if somebody wants Yu..have him too. The .220 fat sometimes outfielder guy that just hits homers, find a taker for him too. Let the guy that was in domestic violence, cut him too. Zoborist..bye but yea...losing 8 straight ..I'd be pretty down too. But October is soon..and if trend continues..Braves fan will be depressed soon enough. nobody.is.beating.Houston.anyways

The Mets are going to finish with a better record than the Phillies. How embarrassing. (Technically also for the Cubs as right now the Mets are better by 1 game but that's not as relevant given the divisional rivalry between PHI/NY)
Right now MLB playoffs would be:
Twins vs Yankees Astros vs Athletics/Rays
Braves vs Cardinals Dodgers vs Brewers/Nationals
Potential changes being Cardinals/Brewers separated by 1 game for the division - both will make it but obviously would prefer not to play in the wild card game - and Indians 1.5/2.0 behind Rays/Athletics for wild card spot

Lester has 1 more year on his deal so I can see the Cubs hanging onto him but Hamels is likely out. Yu, for what it's worth, pitched really well the 2nd half of the season. I don't think he pitched well enough for someone to take him in a trade though. Yu, Hendricks and Quintana will definitely be back. Lester? Hamels - Gone. I don't see market for Heyward with his contract and defensively he's still one of the best outfielders out there. But I'd definitely get rid of Schwarber while his value is still relatively high. His average sucks but an AL team may be infatuated about his ability to hit 400 foot bombs and play DH. Zobrist and Russell are both gone. The main question again is going to be Bryant. He hurt himself Monday and has struggled with injuries but when healthy, he hits for average and still can get you 30+ homeruns. It'll be interesting to see if he accepts arbitration or will Boras hold him out for the big money to which I can see the Cubs shopping him. I don't think Theo is ready to give him 300+ million yet and I don't blame him. Not to mention the like Bote at 3rd too though defensively he isn't as good as Bryant.

Braves lost every bit of momentum the last 10 games. All the starters struggled the last start. Acuna out, Freeman in and out, injuries, bullpen blowing it again. Advantage Cardinals. Flaherty & Wainright are hot..Cardinals in 4 and I'll move on to the NBA Season.

Another ringless year for Ryan Braun is always a win for me. It just would've been sweeter if it was him with the fielding error. Now I just need your Braves to get the Cards out.
Hearing a lot that Maddon and the Angels are both interested in each other. Seems like a perfect fit. They need that manager to get them over the hump and Maddon in South California seems like a match.

The Nats making the playoffs and the Phillies missing it is awesome.
Especially awesome to see Juan Soto/Anthony Rendon have a strong year to have Washington go "Bryce who?"
Rendon: .319ba 34hrs 126rbis 5sbs 1.01ops in 146 games Soto: .282ba 34hrs 110rbis 12sbs .949ops in 150 games Harper: .260ba 35hrs 114rbus 15sbs.882ops in 157 games
Nats vs Dodgers is going to go a full 5 I believe. The Nats have a really good squad.
As for As vs Rays.... I guess I'll root for the As
As an aside, Pete Alonso! 53hrs 120rbis as a true rookie. Awesome.

Saw an ESPN article about Ronald Acuna Jr. Maybe because I didn't do fantasy baseball this year but I had no idea he had a 41hr 101rbi 37sb season..... and he's only 21.
Playoff predictions:
STL > ATL - The Cardinals are the MLB version of the Spurs to me, I kind of just think they'll find a way LAD > WAS - The Dodgers will make the World Series, only to lose again HOU > TB - Let's not kid ourselves NYY > MIN - rooting for MIN but don't trust their pitching at all.
LAD > STL - See comment about Dodgers above HOU > NYY - Houston is flat out the best team in the MLB
HOU > LAD - See comments above for both LAD and HOU

One year left on his contract making him a lame duck if they didn't want to extend him. Questionable in-game decisions. Couldn't fix the bullpen despite being a former pitching coach. Wasn't hired by GM Van Wagenen, who took over a year ago.
He did OK but I can see why the Mets would go in a different direction.

Listening to Tim Kurkjian on ESPN and he said don't be shocked if the Mets reach out to Joe Giradi. He's been very vocal about wanting to manage again and has been linked to the Cubs but he's a guy that can handle the NY atmosphere and media and would be open to it.
Playoff predictions:
National League: Cards > Braves Dodgers > Nats
Cards > Dodgers
American League: Yankees > Twins Astros > Rays
Astros > Yankees
World Series:
Astros > Cards
