The NYY rotation is Cole, Rodon, Cortes, Severino, Montas. In 2022, they had a combined 3.21 era. It's also costing the team about 85M based on estimated salary.
Which sounds like a lot until you hear how much Scherzer, Verlander, Quintana, Carrasco, Senga costs the Mets. Spoiler alert: The first two dudes.... already more than 85M.

I dont hope for Mets injuries..I like Verlander alot..respect Max. but I really hope they tank.Padres too, and Dodgers..Phillies as well
I knew the Braves would go cheap..talk big about spending and dont. They just get really lucky to convince their stars to sign long term very team friendly deals.

You never have to hope for them. They are inevitable.

I'm just waitin on the Cubbies to overpay Dansby at about 6 year $210m Wouldn't shock me if the Twins sign him after losing Correa. I think if the Cubs really wanted him, they would've been more aggressive unless he is just halting all offers till his honeymoon is over.

Legit had no idea Manny was 30. Thought he was younger I guess being in Baltimore for so long, he kind of flew under the radar.
On the one hand, crazy to opt out of 5 years 160M On the other hand, with the silly spending spree going on it isn't illogical for him to think he can certainly do better if he has another year like he did in 2022 being MVP runner-up.
Honestly, if he can stay relatively healthy and play long enough, he has an outside shot of being in the 500 hr + 3000 hit club

Cheap Braves offered 6 year $100 mil at the All-Star Break 6 months later he gets 7 year $177mil.
Good for Dansby, liked him as a player..not for that price when Grissom will end up being signed to one of the typical Braves long term cheap deal signings.

It's better than Correa and Bogaerts in my opinion but I don't like the idea of signing 1 player when it's clear we have multiple holes to fill. Had this been part of a splash offseason and I'm all in.

Cubs also just signed SP Taillon to 4 years 68M and close to re-signing SP Drew Smyly
In a fairly under the radar move, Dodgers signed JD Martinez to 1 year 10M. Guy has been an All-Star the last 4 seasons (naturally excluding the cancelled 2020 game) - albeit an injury replacement this past season.

In a shocking development, Carlos Correa has agreed to join the Mets for a 12-year, $315MM contract, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
W.T.F. F the Mets, that's just damn ridiculous. Man I cant wait to hate the Mets more for a long time. Terrible for baseball.

Another guy being paid past age 40 where the end of that contract is going to be wildly regrettable. That said, damnnnnnnnn Mets
Correa, Nimmo, Diaz, Verlander, Senga, Quintana, Narvaez, Ottavino, Robertson = 801M spent this offseason

Angels staying busy. Sign RP Carlos Estevez 2 years 13.5M. Who? Beats me but he's seemed to be a reasonably good reliever the past two seasons - where I am sure his ERA is somewhat inflated due to pitching a lot of games in Colorado.
Add this to SP Tyler Anderson and offensive help with Urshela and Renfroe. Nothing earth shattering but really the Angels just need Trout to stay healthy and Rendon to become some semblance of the guy they gave a huge contract to if they want to be anything good.
With Ohtani one year away from free agency, it's really all-in this season.
Angels sign Brandon Rury. Who? Beats me but he can play multiple positions and hit 28 homers last season.
Also he's been with 6 teams from 2017 to 2022 - including the Mets for a bit.

Im banking on the Giants breaking the bank next year for Ohtani. I wouldn't even be shocked if they go hard on Ohtani and Machado after the Correa debacle this year.

I'd love to see Ohtani with the Dodgers or Giants. Of course that's just my bias in seeing the Asian guy stay in California.
Plus he deserves so much more than the Angels. For as much as I commend their "activity" this offseason, the moves were fairly pedestrian in general. Even with a healthy Trout/Ohtani + Rendon not being crap, this team isn't remotely a contender. Heck, they might still be the 4th best team in the division behind Houston, Seattle and who knows with Texas after they signed DeGrom and an under the radar hiring of Bochy as manager.

Via ESPN: "The San Francisco Giants are signing outfielder Michael Conforto to a two-year, $36 million deal, sources confirmed to ESPN on Friday.
The contract includes an opt-out after the 2023 season, the sources told ESPN's Buster Olney."
Hate to see him go but great landing spot and I think he can have a bounceback season and nail down a solid long term deal next offseason.
In other news, remember Trevor Bauer? Yeah I forgot about him too. Anyhow his suspension was reduced and he has been reinstated. Should be interesting to see what the Dodgers do. Have 14 days to reinstate him to the 40 man roster or release him. Entering the final year of his contract and is guaranteed at least 22.5M regardless of what the Dodgers do.
After re-signing Kershaw and signing Syndergaard they don't necessarily "need" him with Urias, Gonsolin, May/Grove/Pepiot.

On the one hand, glad the Mets re-signed Ottavino. HUGE part of that pen. 66 games last season with a 2.06 era. They also traded for Brooks Raley, who went 60 games with a 2.68 era for the Rays last season. So bullpen is shaping up before the grossly overpaid Edwin Diaz.
Not that anyone cares about relief pitcher moves for the Mets right now since the big story is the Mets being concerned with Correa's health during his physical putting that signing in jeopardy. Which shouldn't come as a big surprise given the Giants expressed the same thing. Apparently Correa is still focused on the Mets but won't reduce his contract. The middle ground might be them sticking to that figure BUT putting some type of protections for the Mets. Perhaps allowing the Mets to exit early should Correa's physical concerns lead to an agreed upon number of games missed or IL stints or something. I mean, the guy is 28. Which isn't old BUT you can't given a 12 year contract to someone who is having health concerns NOW.

Rangers sign SP Eovaldi. They also signed DeGrom and Heaney. Add that to Martin Perez and Jon Gray and that's a really strong rotation.

Feel bad for White Sox fans and that's hard coming from a Cubs fan. That team was expecting to compete last season and the prediction is 1 game better than last year.
Of course I'm talking shit from a fan of a team who isn't on the list.

Twins @ Mets would be prime time TV if that chump backs out Boooooooooo! Giants too. In the end I think he stays a Met but you gotta wonder how bad the issue is if two teams now have red-flagged this. But I think the Mets aggressiveness will prevail and he eventually signs.

Quite the soap opera
Went from 13 years 350M with Giants to 12 years 315M with Mets to sources saying Correa/Mets agreed on a new deal last night to today 6 years 200M with Twins, which just so happens to be the team he played for last season and I don't know that anyone expected him to return.
Apparently Mets' new offer was 8 years 210M with potential to make it that 12 years 315M previously agreed upon but it would not have been guaranteed.
I mean kudos to the Twins for just committing 6 years and kudos to Correa for getting a higher AAV than his prior deals.

Padres sign Nelson Cruz to 1 year just 1 M
Talk about a slide as he's gotten over12M every year since 2015.
Granted he's ancient and coming off a crappy year.
Cruz (right) + Carpenter (left) should handle DH duties for the Padres.
