It was pretty detailed how DJ was really good friends with KD and Kyrie and seemed a fairly significant signing in that same offseason. It's not like the guy forgot how to play. Per minute with Brooklyn the last two years he's still pretty much the same athletic rim protector and alley-oop artist he's always been. You'd think any contender would want a solid veteran big like him. How he fell so out of favor is perplexing. DJ has to feel pretty lousy about himself that Brooklyn would rather start Blake Griffin at C than him. Griffin who is much smaller, much crappier on defense and whose offense is pretty much Kevin Love these days.

I doubt the Blazers will start Nance over Powell but they should as it brings significant upgrade defensively - not just the increase in size/length but that Nance is a solid defensive PF. Nance being a fairly good 3pt shooter maintains the floor stretching. Utilize Powell as a 6th man, much like he was in Toronto for most of his career.
They can close the lineup with Dame, CJ, Powell if they need offensive punch but I think starting games with a better defensive unit helps them control game flow and not feel the need to be in constant shootouts. Last season they ranked worst in points allowed among winning teams and that lack of defense obviously carried into the postseason where they allowed 116.5ppg in regulation to a Jamaal Murray-less Denver team starting Austin Rivers and Facundo Campazzo in the backcourt (which dipped all the way down to 105.8 for Denver in the next round vs Phx).

According to Woj, Kevin Love has no interest in negotiating a buyout with the Cavs.

After agreeing to a buyout with the Grizzlies, Rajon Rondo is expected to sign with the Lakers according to Woj. Rondo will need to clear waivers first.

If this was 2012 entering the 2012-2013 season, the Lakers would have the greatest team since the Bill Russell-led Morons
Howard and Lebron were All-NBA 1st team Westbrook was All-NBA 2nd team Melo and Rondo were All-NBA 3rd team Gasol was an All-Star Ariza was a full-time starter averaging 10.8ppg 5.2rpg 3.3apg 1.7spg
Ellington was in his 3rd season as a good reserve for Minnesota AD was the #1 pick in the 2012 draft Bazemore was a rookie
Heck, had they kept Dudley, he was also a full-time starter for the Suns coming off a 12.7ppg 4.6rpg 38.3 3fg% season

Via NBC
"The Suns are interested in acquiring Thaddeus Young from the Spurs. "
My guess, based on the contracts they have, is the Suns would offer Saric + Jalen Smith.
Suns would get solid immediate help at PF given Saric is injured and Smith is still raw
Spurs have no real use for 33 year old Young and can turn him into a nice young prospect in Smith who was drafted #10 just last year and a flier on Saric for when he returns in 2022, where at best he's a quality player and at worse he's a tradeable expiring deal.

There’s a high chance that Tyrese Maxey will be a part of any Ben Simmons trade.
Rich Paul would like both of his clients out of Philadelphia.

Good. Glad this went public. Should knock Morey's inane trade price down and help facilitate a trade so we can all move on with our lives beyond this subject. The Sixers want to contend and for as much as they want to claim they have the leverage, they absolutely won't want to go into the season with this distraction hanging over their head and obviously a gigantic hole in their lineup where Ben is supposed to be.
Send him to the Kings or Wolves. See how much fun Ben has playing in Sacramento/Minnesota.
It's going to look pretty bad for Morey. He played a game of poker bluffing that he could turn Ben into a Harden-like package or a star like Dame. When he ends up with Colin Sexton, Kevin Love and a protected 2022 1st rd pick from the Cavs, it's going to be pretty hilarious.

Sixers hung too much hope on Dame wanting out and trying to facilitate a trade to Philly. Now Simmons goes public that he wants out and you won't get anywhere that ridiculous asking price for him.
He prefers to paly in California so I think the Kings are the most ideal. They have a plethora of guards in Fox (not likely), Haliburton, Mitchell and Buddy Hield. Plus other assets like Marvin Bagley, young picks and players to make a deal work. My guess is Minnesota would need to part with Russell or Edwards. I can see Russell though I imagine they would hold out and try to put in Beasley.

My co-worker, the random Kings fan I've mentioned in the past, thinks it'll be Hield, Bagley, Mitchell and future 1st for Simmons and Maxey.
On paper it's not the worst haul for Philly but for a contender, it leaves them in a rough spot in terms of facilitating because Mitchell is a rookie and neither Curry or Milton are pure playmakers.
You'd think Philly would absolutely want Haliburton. Granted at 21 and entering his 2nd year he's not exactly a grizzled veteran but coming off a 13ppg 5.3apg 40.9 3fg% rookie year, he would be a quality PG for the squad and has the size to continue starting Seth Curry in the backcourt and they can go Hield at SF.

Kings need to make a move to improve..but I'm not taking the ball out of Fox's hands. I think that deal makes the Kings worse, and I'm not giving up all that. Adding Simmons with Fox/Haliburton isn't fitting a need. Just making a move to make a move.

Adding Simmons with Fox/Haliburton isn't fitting a need. Just making a move to make a move. To some extent, I agree. But I think with the addition of Mitchell and the progression of Haliburton, the ball is going to come out of Fox's hands anyway. Granted I didn't see many Kings games last year but it didn't seem like a Fox ball-dominated offense. I think Simmons would give them a solid 2nd option and defensively he's an upgrade over almost everyone on that team. Plus it's the Kings. The expectations will be low and they already have Fox there to "lead" the team and offense. He's pretty much a 2nd or 3rd option at this point and I think the Kings would give him an opportunity to regain some of the value he's lost. He'll definitely put up numbers there.

I didn't realize Fox averaged 25.2ppg and 7.2apg. Imagine what he could do with Simmons taking over the bulk of the ball-handling and he can just focus more on scoring. The guy could very well put Bradley Beal-type stats with 31ppg and 4apg.
IF they theoretically traded Haliburton, Hield, Bagley for Simmons, Maxey.....
They could start Maxey, Fox, Simmons, Barnes, Holmes with Mitchell, Terence Davis, Harkless, Tristan Thompson, Len as the primary 2nd unit

So you're saying Fox is available. Jimmy Buckets for for Foxie..done deal lol
I think Luke's got 1 more year until he's out, and I think they'll suck next year so he'll be gone.

Yup.
I think it's playoffs or bust for him and they aren't making it with this current roster. With GM McNair entering his 2nd season and an impatient owner who has held the team for 8 seasons with not one winning season to speak of, it's no wonder the rumblings have been that the Kings are desperate for that home run move.
Is Simmons that home run move? IF they can get him at the right price, it could be. For all his faults and his stock being at an all-time low, the guy is still a 25 year old All-Star, All-Defense and one of the very few who can do 16-8-8-55%. Adding his defense and playmaking and playoff experience could be the addition this team desperately needs because clearly Harrison Barnes alone hasn't been enough to change the culture.
