PJ Tucker heads to the Heat on a 2 year/15 million deal.
Well, that solves the question of who the Heat's starting PF will be
Lowry, Duncan, Butler, Tucker, Bam
That team is definitely going all-in.

Pelicans get Devonte Graham from CHA via S&T 4 year 47M. They have their Lonzo Ball replacement.
Hornets get Pelicans 2022 1st round pick in return (lottery protected)

Definitely not a good look if you are Dame's shoes. They haven't done anything.
Well, at least they re-signed Powell. 5 years 90M.
That suggests starter $ and if they just run back that 6'2 Dame, 6'3 CJ, 6'3 Powell, 6'7" Covington lineup, they're going to be every bit the defensive disaster they were last season, no matter who the coach is. Made even worse when Nurkic inevitably gets hurt and the team turns to Cody Zeller at C.
Blazers really would have been better off just keeping Gary Trent. Not only did Trent re-sign for much cheaper with Toronto (3 years 54M) but at 6'5", he at least was passable as a starting SF.

DeRozan to the Heat on a 3 year/53 million dollar deal. Definitely a "paycut" especially considering Lowry got 3 years/90 million but the Heat are definitely going all in.

Kent Bazemore to sign with the Lakers.
Another ex-Laker joining back up. All of whom played with Kobe.

Weak.
But the Heat are bringing back DeWayne Dedmon and Max Strus. So there is that. Word is they also have an offer out to Markieff Morris.

I know they don't fit the mold of only signing ex-Lakers from years past but bringing in Patty Mills and Rudy Gay would really solidify the rotation - and if they bring back THT and Morris, the team would actually be really freakin' stacked from 1 to 12 when you figure AD, Lebron, Russ, Dwight, Ellington, Mills, Bazemore, Ariza, Gay, Gasol, THT, Morris

Naa..they'll play Olynyk 30 minutes a night and give Stewart 15 lol Dallas has the big Bullock off season addition..so much for more Luka help
I didn't realize that Bullock got 3 years 30.5M until just now.
Teams dishing out 10M per year contracts like candy.

Dennis Schroder has to be regretting his decision right now. I don't even see a market for him. Lonzo to the Bulls and Lowry to the Heat took away 2 of his biggest options.

Schroder is better off taking a 1 year deal and come off the bench somewhere and be the 15-18ppg player then try to get a 3 year deal next year

Yup.
He had an extremely overinflated opinion of his value and it's biting him in the ass now. With all the early movement, I don't see any starting spot for him at all. NO added Graham, NY brought back Rose, Washington is in on Dinwiddie.
Maybe Dallas. They were said to be interested in him. Even after signing Brown/Bullock and keeping THJ, they could in theory sign Schroeder and start him next to THJ/Luka. That'd certainly be an offensive improvement. However, he'd have to take a fat discount - unless Lakers do a S&T but I can't imagine they are like "Sure, we'll take Dwight Powell and Trey Burke"

Bruce Brown accepts QO from the Nets, so he's coming back. Key player for them - ended up starting 37 games - and important depth behind Kyrie/Harden.
They'll definitely need to get something out of a Dinwiddie S&T to help account for losing Jeff Green and Landry Shamet.
Update: They signed James Johnson, who as a 6'7" defensive minded frontcourt player can replace Green

The Warriors are pretty stacked now
SL: Steph, Klay, Wiggins, Dray, Wiseman Bench: Poole, Lee, Mulder, JTA, O. Porter, Bjelica, Paschall, Looney Rookies: Moody and Kuminga - who can certainly be brought along slowly
And word is they are also pursuing Patty Mills with their tax payer MLE

Rodney Hoods signs with Bucks on 1 year deal
If healthy, which is always a big if, this is a very solid pickup by the Bucks. He can replace Forbes off the bench and even play some small ball PF to help alleviate the loss of Tucker - along with their signing of Semi Ojeleye.
Saw on twitter:
1) Giannis 2) Middleton 3) Holiday 4) Lopez 5) DiVincenzo
6) Connaughton 7) Portis 8) Thanasis 9) Nwora 10) Ojeleye
11) Hood 12) Merrill 13) Diakite 14) Bryant 15) Mamu
I was like "Who are Diakite, Nwora, Merrill, Bryant and Mamu?" but apparently the first four were all on the roster last season as rookies and Mamu was a 2nd rd pick this draft.
Epitome of cheap depth.

I don't know if I've ever seen such a precipitous fall for a player who isn't old and isn't dealing with a major injury.
In literally one year the guy went from 8 seasons of really good to ridiculously good production - including 4 rebounding titles and 3X 2nd in rebounding - to being dealt for a 2nd rd pick, to being a midseason buyout to being a minimum salary signing backing up one of the elite big men in the league.
I realize real NBA is not fantasy basketball but still, you have to have actual talent/skill to put up those kind of stats over the course of

Taj Gibson back to NY for 2.7M They really are just running it back, except adding Fournier and some rookies.
Have to figure this is more about realizing they aren't going to hit a home run with their cap space, so they just stocked up tradeable contracts and collected future assets with their draft night moves in preparation for future trades, while maintaining their winning momentum.

I actually watched the end of this game, and even then I noticed Javale playing wide open down the stretch of a blow out. I didn't catch CP3 talking to Javale after the game like that. But cool story..he's a good fit with the Suns..or basically a good fit as a backup to any center.

Robin Lopez to ORL for 1 year 5M
Team is pretty stocked in the frontcourt but wouldn't surprise me if due to injuries or lackluster production or a rookie HC leaning on a veteran, RoLo finds his way to 50 starts.

Nets get Patty Mills for 2 years 12M
On the one hand, bummer Lakers didn't get him On the other hand, glad he didn't go to Golden State
G: Kyrie, Mills, Carter
G: Harden, Brown, C. Thomas F: Harris, A. Johnson,
F: Durant, J. Johnson
C: Griffin, Claxton, Sharpe
Plus they have DeAndre Jordan who they are trying to trade and then whatever they get back in an expected S&T with Washington Dinwiddie - like SF Chandler Hutchison

Me on August 1
Aug 1, 2021 15:40:36 GMT -7 eddieeddie said: Hornets didn't give a QO to Monk, so he's a UFA
Interesting
He was a legitimate flop his first three seasons as a #11 pick but he was pretty good this past season. 11.7ppg 2.4rpg 2.1apg 40.1 3fg% At only 23, he should be a good free agent target for some teams.
August 3
Lakers sign Malik Monk
Hornets loss is the Lakers' gain.
And Lakers also sign Melo. As expected but finally official.
