Eli had a great career, is an eventual HOFer and an overall good dude and ambassador for the league but this is 100% the right move.
Since winning the Super Bowl in 2011, the team has two winning seasons (9-7 in 2012 and 11-5 in 2016, one playoff appearance in 2016 and zero playoff victories). There was no indication this season would be a competitive one, the questionable Golden Tate signing aside. Obviously starting 0-2 only solidified that notion. Jones looked good in the preseason - granted, yes it was just preseason - but might as well toss him out there with Saquon, Engram, Shepard, Latimer and see what you have long term.

Carolina GM Marty Hurney told reporters that Cam Newton informed the team of the aggravated foot injury after last Thursday night's loss to the Buccaneers. The team does not have a solid timeline for when Newton will be able to play, saying the Panthers "will see how it goes."

I'm just going to drop Cam. What a waste. Annoys me I drafted him in my main league ahead of Lamar, Dak and Kyler. My fault for listening to "experts" who ranked him 8th and said he was over his foot injury, he'd go back to being a rushing threat (esp. at the goal line) and he'd be a better passer with a healthy shoulder and with all his weapons (Moore, Samuel, Olsen, CMC). I don't want to waste two spots holding on to him and another QB - like I was doing with him and Ben. Ugh to how that duo turned out.
Unless I can pull off a trade, going the streaming route with guys like Dalton, Brissett, Stafford etc.

On the topic of Eli, this is from Bleacher Report
Good thing he is being benched so he can perhaps NOT retire with a losing record as a starter.
➖ 16 years ➖ 232 starts ➖ 116-116 record ➖ 2 Super Bowls ➖ 2 Super Bowl MVPs ➖ 362 TDs (8th all-time) ➖ 56,537 yards (7th all-time)

Totally random
Jason Witten The guy is 4th All-Time in receptions only behind Rice, Tony Gonzalez and Larry Fitzgerald
Tied 45th All-Time in receiving TDs and while I can't verify the random names above him, I only see Gates, Gonzalez, Gronk and Graham ahead of him among tight ends. So he could be #1 all time among tight ends of guys whose last name doesn't start with G

The Miami Dolphins are making the switch to Josh Rosen at quarterback, a source told ESPN's Cameron Wolfe.
Rosen will make his starting debut on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys, replacing Ryan Fitzpatrick, who had started the team's first two games.
I thought Fitz was doing a great job tanking personally.

The Dolphins signing 36 year old Ryan Fitzmagic never made any sense to begin with. Should have just named Rosen as the starter and signed an equally young backup QB as a project in the likely event Rosen proves he sucks.

Sigh AB. As annoying as it is since I have him in two leagues, I hope this is the end of this national headache.
In one league with AB, I dropped Tate for Dorsett and have a claim dropping AB for Gordon (I'm #2). Yeah, someone dropped Gordon after his crappy game last week. Gotta love impatience.
In another league with AB that starts 3 WRs, well, it's my 14 team big $ league. I gotta hold on to him because the waiver wire is garbage. I have Ridley, Tyrell, Kirk, Shepard, DeMarcus Robinson, so I can survive at WR.... for now.

James White out. Wife giving labor. Have him in 3 leagues but was really only starting him in 1. Our league. Dropped Cam to pickup Burkhead as short-term filler since I don't trust Miles Sanders yet.
Oh and AB... dude...... just.... stop... go away.... forever..... please

Tough loss for the Lions. 2 bad calls kept drives alive.
That was painful to watch. I'm glad that it has gotten as much attention as it has on twitter.
Honestly, I don't understand to this day why EVERY play isn't challenge-able. The very concept that "Oh you can't challenge that call" makes no sense. EVERY call has an impact if it's wrong and should be able to be made right.

I don't understand why a team can't challenge any call if they have the timeouts available in case they lose it. I get not reviewing every play because the game will be longer and that can kill momentum and drives.
I also don't understand why a lot of these calls are automatic first downs. If it's 3rd and 27 and a defensive end puts his hands in an OL players face, why is it 5 yards and an AUTOMATIC first down?

Rams traded CB Marcus Peters to Ravens for a LB and a 2020 5th rd pick Rams also acquired OG Austin Corbett for a 2021 fifth-round pick
Busy days for the Rams. Don't often see an NFL team making 3 trades in one day during the regular season.
Also reports are WAS OL Trent Williams, currently holding out, could be shipped to the Browns. Which makes sense given they need OL help badly and just traded Corbett

On this note, I've always thought pass interference shouldn't be automatically spot of the foul. You're doing that with the assumption that the player 100% would have caught the ball. Ask Will Fuller how true that is.
But yes, every play should be able to be challenged if you have timeouts. This includes things like roughing the passer, unnecessary roughness, hands to the face etc. I don't blame the refs, they see what they see in real time and the angle they have. BUT if they are wrong, there should always be an opportunity to reverse the call.

Yeah I hate NFL's PI calls. I like college football where it's just 15 yards.

I don't think the Falcons need to can Quinn or Koetter. The Falcons do need a a new defensive coordinator, a new running back (Freeman sucks), a QB for the future (Ryan isn't super old at 34 and has been relatively durable but he's been sacked 340 times and is bound to break down further) and obviously better defensive players. This is a lost season and they should consider being sellers at the deadline and tanking.
Eagles looked utterly awful last night against the Cowboys. Chargers need to make a decision... do they continue playing crappy Melvin Gordon or reduce his role and ride the actually really good Ekeler? With Mahomes out for a bit, they could still catch up for the division but they're not going to do so riding the crappy Melvin Gordon.
Titans are 3-4 and Tannehill goes for 312 and 2 yesterday. Saints are 6-1 with Brees only playing 1 full game and a portion of a 2nd.
For all the talk of the 0-6 Dolphins tanking, people don't seem to notice the Bengals are 0-7.
On the flip side, the Bills are 5-1. With Frank Gore as the leading rusher. This team is basically the Ravens, just a less potent offense but much stouter defense. The Patriots are still the AFC favorites but the Bills, Ravens, Colts and Chiefs with Mahomes present some strong competition.
Are the Niners the NFC favorites?

For all the talk of the 0-6 Dolphins tanking, people don't seem to notice the Bengals are 0-7. I notice. Every fucking Sunday I notice. Sad part is, we aren't tanking. I guarantee that franchise is trying it's best to win every game and they are still on par with a team that has been intentionally self sabotaging (looking at you, failed 2pt conversion vs Washington) since the offseason.

Chargers lose OL Forrest Lamp for the season. They already lost Mike Pouncey and have been with out Russell Okung.
If the team continues to ride Melvin Gordon and his 2.3 yards per carry, they deserve to lose every game. Just like they have since Gordon came back. 0-3.
