Well my lockdown time has come..they are announcing it tomorrow afternoon when ours it to begin..my guess is Friday evening at 5pm. So we'll see how it goes.
* ugh..sounds like it will be until April 30th..
Frankly this whole nation should just be on lockdown until April 30. I realize some states aren't nearly hurt by this as WA, NY, CA etc and shouldn't have to deal with the economic fallout of a lockdown BUT the only way to "flatten the curve" is to stop the spread and allow hospitals time to catch up and that means whether your state has 20 cases or 20,000 cases, people just need to stay home. All it takes is ONE person to spark another breakout given how contagious this is.

I'm not even sure with the lockdown entails. I mean I assume you can still go get gas, groceries. Etc. me and my brother went to Lowe's on Sunday and it was packed..the garden section was just everybody getting flowers and well you name it. We will likely close to the public for walk-ins..just come in and do orders and mail them out. But it will be a slow slow month.
Hospitals here ..are in no where near has the infected patients in other states..and we can't handle it.so I can't imagine states like NY, NJ, etc.

In CA, it's just easier to name things that are open versus not.
In CA, it is hospitals (naturally), groceries, restaurants for take-out/delivery, gas stations, banks, auto shops, hardware stores, pharmacies and other things deemed "essential" for day to day life - which apparently includes weed dispensaries as well.
More and more things are being closed. Today they closed piers and hiking trails. Recently was beaches and parks. Before that was retail stores, theaters, arcades, brewpubs, schools, amusement parks and other things not deemed essential.
I did my grocery shopping weeks ago so I am stocked for whenever I need to turn to it but daily I do my best to get take out to support local restaurants. So really my only exposure to sunlight is that drive to and from a restaurant, to get my mail and weather permitting I'll go for a jog.

It's more deterrent than preventive at this point. If you want to go outside, it's really nothing that can stop you. My mother lives 5 blocks from me and I try to visit her every day or every other day just to check on her and that doesn't fall in our guidelines of "essential."
I do think people would be more at rest with it if nationwide we set a tentative date. That way people can start to operate with the hope that it's a light at the end versus us just winging it.

In NYC it means all non-essential stuff is closed. You can walk the dog or go for a run if you want but nothing is open except grocery stores, pharmacies and hospitals

CA Governor is saying the lockdown could go through May.
Honestly, looking at all the charts about flattening the curve, it'd be the right call. I realize I am not making the same type of economic sacrifice as countless others but as Dr. Fauchi says: "We need to look at the data". I see people commenting that this is all about "power" for Newsom. Uh, no. This is about saving lives. The level of idiocy I see in comment sections is mind-blowing some times. Like some guy whining about how he moved to CA because he likes to hike and how mad he is they closed hiking trails. Seriously dude?
Trump can end the government guidelines around Easter if he wants and potentially kill millions in the country with that decision putting economy (aka his re-election campaign) over public health but luckily states can still maintain their own rules and I hope CA stays the course as long as it needs to.

In New York City, which has become the epicenter of coronavirus in the US, police have been heavily impacted by the spreading illness. At least 236 NYPD employees test positive, of which 197 are police officers. An estimated 3,200 officers are out sick.
Stay strong NY...that's crazy

I'm good here...it's still spreading, couple local deaths, and is up to near 1300 total. They've put all of North Carolina on stay at home until April 17th. I'm still working (painfully slow) but Trump's money will be coming in a week or so. So since I'm still pulling my paycheck..I may even throw it in my 401K and buy some investments since everything is low.
Trumps "back by Easter" was a flop..already extending it another 30 days. Now it's June 1st.
Crazy times

I'm just glad Trump listened to the medical experts and stopped with the Easter nonsense.
Of course with him, he does one thing right and does 30 other things that piss me off. Did you see his tweets where he was hyping up the ratings for his pressers? Seriously? At this time, you are talking about TV ratings? You're a damn sociopath.

One of my close friends actually tested positive last week and was just released from the hospital. Hit a little close to home. Luckily for him, he was able to recover and is now back at home (though quarantined to the basement by his wife lol).
I was previously employed at a healthcare facility and I reached out to one of the doctors about it and he gave me a lot of info on why people need to take precautions. He's of Chinese descent and his parents are still located in China so he warned me to not take the numbers shown by China to the heart. He says the area where his parents live has been practically under martial law for the last 2 months. His parents can't communicate via internet (no Yahoo/Gmail) because China wants to control what information they put out. End of the day, he was basically saying it looks encouraging but they aren't telling everybody the steps they took to start producing positive results.
I rather just stay in the house for the next 1-2 months to be safe. I'm grateful that my new boss basically is onboard with everyone staying home and taking no chances. I left a USB hub in my office that I desperately need and asked could I go get it and he adamantly told me to stay home and protect myself. Order or buy a new one and expense it lmao.

smh at him hyping his presser ratings. Yea it's pretty ridiculous. They should have assigned somebody to run his twitter account the second he got into office. But as much turnover as he's had he would have fired and hired 3-4 twitter handlers by now.

damn
Add in a new USB Hub and 120 more rolls of TP please
Thing here..is with everything closed..but Home Depot and Lowe's still open..and it was 80-87 degrees this weekened. EVERYBODY was there this weekend, garden center was like 8-9 people deep in line. Kind of silly. Grocery store however I was surprised at the ease of it..no TP..but less chaos.

I needed a new keyboard. I just put it on my company card and bought it at Best Buy using their curbside pickup. Quick and seamless.

Crazy part about it I have tons of TP. My last job over-purchased some because their previous order got backordered. Then they all came at the same time. I stopped in to return some equipment and the owner was like "do you need some toilet paper? I have boxes of it in the back. " Done.
I didn't even think about looking at Best Buy for one. I'm so used to Amazon for everything. I'll do that so I get it quicker.

When all this first started, I went into to our office supply room at my work and "took" a few bottles of clorox wipes and hand sanitizer. I also went to Target and stocked up on water, toilet paper and also hygienic stuff (toothpaste, mouthwash, body wash, hand soap etc). So really outside of a few intermittent grocery trips, I've been pretty good at home since all this started brewing.

Breaking: ESPN is moving up its highly-anticipated Michael Jordan documentary "The Last Dance" to April, per @andrewmarchand.
Was scrolling through twitter and found about this because of Lebron.
Moved it up from June to April 19.
Thank you ESPN, Netflix, MJ, the NBA and Mandalay Sports Media for listening to the calls to push this up.
As much fun as the game was, the fact that I spent 3 ours yesterday afternoon watching a 2018 game between the Chiefs/Rams tells me I am starved for new content.
I really hope more studios who have stuff already taped consider releasing things early.
For example Fox, was planning to release new seasons of Hells Kitchen/Masterchef during the summer. Release them now please. I need some Gordon Ramsey to get me through this.

Brooklyn Receives: PF/C LaMarcus Aldridge, G Derrick White San Antonio Receives: PG Spencer Dinwiddie, C Jarrett Allen, F Taurean Prince
Brooklyn Receives: SG Buddy Hield Sacramento Receives: C Jarrett Allen, F Taurean Prince, SG Theo Pinson, 2020 first-round pick (via Philadelphia 76ers)
Brooklyn Receives: SG CJ McCollum Portland Receives: G/F Caris LeVert, F Taurean Prince, 2020 first-round pick (via Philadelphia 76ers)
Brooklyn Receives: SG Bradley Beal Washington Receives: G/F Caris LeVert, PG Spencer Dinwiddie, C Jarrett Allen, 2020 first-round pick (via Philadelphia 76ers), 2022 first-round pick (top-three protected)
Brooklyn Receives: C Joel Embiid Philadelphia Receives: C Jarrett Allen, G/F Caris LeVert, PG Spencer Dinwiddie, 2020 first-round pick (via Philadelphia 76ers), 2022 first-round pick (top-three protected)
Only one I see being viable is the Spurs one, mostly because it is something that makes complete sense for the non-Nets team - the rest not so much.
San Antonio badly needs to rebuild that team and this trade makes a ton of sense for them to trade an aging LA who is a FA in 2021 (along with DeRozan, whether he picks up his option or declines and is a sign and trade) and build around D. Murray, L. Walker, Dinwiddie, J. Allen, K. Johnson, Samanic, Lyles etc. Only concern would be if they want to take on the salary of Prince as it eats into their projected 2021 cap space.
For the Nets, Aldridge is the least sexy of this bunch but put him in a lineup with Kyrie, Levert, Durant, DJ and that is a ridiculously stout starting five - assuming it can stay healthy. Aldridge with his veteran savvy, range and defense is an ideal fit.

I agree. The Spurs trade seems to be the most viable of them all. I like the Kings one too .
The last 3 seem like a big splash move that on paper make a lot of sense but I think if you are the Nets, you may want to see how things work first with the players you have. Is Kyrie healthy? Is Durant healthy? Can they play together? It almost seems problematic to add a guy like Embiid to that lineup with all those questions existing already. Obviously from a talent perspective, if you have an opportunity to get them, you get them. But I'm not sure how realistic it is and if it is, can they all fit together.

While collecting stars is all the rage, personally I agree the Nets may actually be better off just standing pat. Given the health situations of their current stars - injury prone Kyrie + KD coming off a very very serious injury - having solid depth may prove invaluable. Heck Caris Levert is far from John Stockton as well.
It's incredible to have guys like Dinwiddie, Temple and Prince as insurance policies (and guys like Musa, Kurucs, Luwawu, N. Claxton further down the line). They'' probably lose Joe Harris to free agency but they can keep Wilson Chandler at a fraction of the price and that's solid depth at PG, SG, SF, PF. Plus they own the Sixers' 1st rd pick.
If anything I can see them trading Jarrett Allen, entering a contract year. He'll generate a lot of interest. Perhaps acquire a big with some range to complement DJ.

"So, I don't have access to hoop," Antetokounmpo said during a conference call Friday. "A lot of NBA players have a court in their house or something, but now I just get home workouts. Ride the bike, treadmill, lift weights and pretty much stay sharp that way, but I don't play basketball." Editor's Picks
"Since the practice facility is closed down, I don't have any access to a basketball goal unless I go to one of my neighbors' house to shoot outside," Middleton said. "It's really no basketball for me. Basically, like Giannis said, it's the treadmill, the jump rope, some weights and that's it. I have a couple of basketballs I can just dribble in my house or outside but no actual goal to go shoot on."
I found that surprising, but I guess not everybody has an indoor gym like Shaq does.

Bulls are moving on from John Paxson. And will seek interviews with Nuggets general manager Arturas Karnisovas and Toronto GM Bobby Webster, among other candidates.
far far overdue

Definitely long overdue. Paxson was way too rigid about things. Refused to be aggressive pursuing free agents and relied way too much on scouting players to build a team. The game has changed. You must be friends with these players and their agents to attract attention to your franchise.

The more I read/hear things - whether it's directly related to the NBA and sports world or just the health situation in general - the more I don't think the NBA season is going to finish.
Obviously it's unfortunate for numerous situations. The impact financially - obviously the lower salaried players and your Average Joes working for the organizations/arenas as I am not overly concerned about how much $ owners or multi-millionaires are losing. The loss of a "distraction" for fans during this tough time.
And also the loss of a conclusion to the season. Just like high schoolers and collegiate athletes are losing something, especially seniors, so are players with only a finite length to their career and a genuine shot at something like a title.
The Bucks are 53-12 and considered favorites to win the East. Not only do they lose that chance but they lose a chance with Greek Freak who if he rejects their extension this summer could very well be dealt before hitting free agency in 2021.
The Lakers are 49-14 and considered at least co-favorites to win the West. They would lose their first playoff appearance since 2013. They lose a playoff run Lebron/AD and others which is important due to age, health and salary situations. Mainly Lebron because he was having an amazing MVP-caliber season and this might have been the best shot he had left.
The Clippers are 44-20 and considered by some the other co-favorites. Not having a postseason is a huge blow to them as they put all their eggs in the Kawhi/PG basket and the contracts given only guaranteed two seasons. Absolute worst case scenario is no postseason this year, they somehow flop next season and Kawhi/PG bolt in 2021
Then you have all the other teams with aspirations like Denver, Utah, Houston, Dallas, Toronto, Boston, Miami etc. Or a team like Portland or New Orleans poised to make a late playoff push, for whatever that is worth given current #8 seed in the West had a losing record.
You have Vince Carter having his long HOF career ending in an unceremonious fashion. On a much lesser scale, likewise for Udonis Haslem not getting a true send off from the Heat fans.
Older quality players like Paul, Marc Gasol, Dwight Howard, Millsap and Iggy losing a season and a playoff run.
I still have hope they can figure something out as there is still time but I remain pessimistic and the whole idea of just creating a non-virus bubble in Las Vegas to play out weeks of the playoffs (plus a few "regular season" games beforehand) just sounds like a logistical nightmare.

In the tank standings:
1 - Warriors 2 - Cavs 3 - Wolves 4 - Hawks 5 - Pistons 6 - Knicks 7 - Bulls 8 - Hornets 9 - Wizards 10 - Suns 11 - Spurs 12 - Kings 13 - Pelicans 14 - Blazers
How crazy is it to see the Warriors and Cavs as the WORST two teams in the league given the latter had 3 titles and 5 finals appearances last 5 years and the Cavs and the former had 1 and 4 in the same span. We obviously know how they got here. Cavs lost Lebron/Kyrie/Lue. Warriors lost KD, Klay and most of Curry among other things.
Warriors, Cavs and Wolves only have a 14% chance at the #1 pick and only 52.1% chance at top 4. On top of a questionable draft where you had a far lesser sample to watch games due to the college season ending early also and there may not even be a combine, really not the greatest year to suck.
Granted I'm sure they'd be happy with Wiseman, Edwards, Avidja, Toppin, Ball among others but lacks the hype/pizazz of recent drafts. 2013 was probably the last one that was this "meh" to me. Of course that is probably because I didn't get to see a lot of these guys play. Ball/Avidja are international. Edwards was on a mediocre Georgia team. Wiseman barely played any games and UNC was not good so I was less inclined to see Cole Anthony whereas I saw ample Coby White last year. I'd probably like Toppin a lot more if I got to see Dayton in the NCAA Tourney for example. Likewise for Okongwu, Okoro and others.

I hit a lil bit of a lowpoint last night..I watched like 15 minutes of the NBA 2K on ESPN2. It was bad tv for sure, possibly as bad as the HORSE challenge coming up...but I did watch a solid 15 minutes of Porter Jr and Booker play NBA 2K
Tough times...
PS: Virus is doubling here in NC..8 deaths total last Saturday and we are up to 38 now. and the total more than doubles in a week to over 3000 cases. Sadly we are probably still in the middle of the beginning stages.

In Los Angeles County alone - albeit the largest in the nation at over 10 million but still, just a county - had 5940 cases and 132 deaths as of yesterday. Saturday alone added 711 and 28 respectively. Between the lack of testing, the lack of equipment for the hospitals and their staff and just the lackadaisical approach to lockdowns around the nation, I just stew in my anger all day at how our government is basically screwing us over. And then we have Trump tweeting nonsense like the USA is strong and how he sees light at the end of the tunnel. Just shut up. Shut the hell up. Put down the damn phone and order a nationwide lockdown, use the defense production act more and listen to the medical experts - especially when it comes to you peddling a drug that is still very early in a testing phase. Encouraging signs but it's dangerous to be promoting it so vigorously, esp. when people need this medicine for OTHER illnesses. His whole nonsense of just wanting to be optimistic is such BS. It's called "I ignored it because I care more about the economy, my rich friends and my reelection than your middling lives"
And I got so bored yesterday I watched the 2010 NBA Finals Game 7. It was on TV 3 different time in fact. Kobe shot miserably. Amen the Morons also sucked offensively and Artest/Odom/Pau stepped up big time. Crazy seeing them and Fish and Farmar and Shannon Brown and Bynum.

Just reading comments from Trump supporters blows my mind: "He acted quickly by closing the borders from China" "The economy was super strong and unemployment super low before the virus"
"Obama or any other democrat wouldn't have done any better as President"
I saw something yesterday that said 53% approve of his handling of this crisis. Seriously? Who did you poll? Fox news viewers? The idea that this lying sociopathic narcissist has done anything other than botch this whole thing, ON PURPOSE, is mind-boggling.
