Anthony Edwards going 17 was my surprise pick early on - mostly because he went ahead a ton of proven studs.
Don't get me wrong, Edwards had a stellar rookie season and looked great but at the same time, he also took advantage of considerable usage on a crap team besieged by injuries - namely to its top players in KAT and DLO. So I'm curious as to the ceiling on his individual stats. Obviously I dipped into that TWolves well myself with a different rookie in McDaniels but that was obviously way later and really he just looks like a guy who can start, see 28 to 30 mpg and get me like 10-5 with 1 steal, 1 block and 1.5 threes. Not expecting the world here.
So Edwards going ahead of LaVine, Kyrie, Beal, Donovan, Ayton, AD, BI, Randle, Sabonis, JA and a handle of others was surprising.

AD fell that far? Glassman or not..I would have grabbed him.
Taking all those listed before Edwards as well..iffy on Kyrie

I considered AD at 11 and again at 14 despite having drafted Embiid.
To see him slide all the way down to 25 was a shock. I guess people either really really just wanted "youth" or was as concerned, if not more so, about AD's injuries and likely load management this season as the Lakers preserve him for the postseason.

yea, no way I'm picking Kyrie with AD on the board..but I'm not a Kyrie fan. Love me some Steph..so I love ur squad..but love me some Dame..so EE's got it too. Still wouldn't have taken Embiid over AD lol..but 100% agree on the logic of doing so.

Embiid: 28.5ppg 10.6rpg 2.8apg 1.0spg 1.4bpg 1.1 3pg 51.3fg% 85.9ft% AD: 21.8ppg 7.9rpg 3.1apg 1.3spg 1.6bpg 0.7 3pg 49.1fg% 73.8ft%
Granted that's just last season but AD's stats aren't likely to increase with continued load management whereas Embiid's stats actually can improve - not so much scoring, but the other stats should as this past season was actually one of his worst in terms of APG, RPG, BPG. His prior 3 seasons, he averaged 12.1rpg 3.3apg 1.7bpg - so I'm banking on a return to the mean. This team is heavily reliant on him for their success so his usage will continue to be massive as the Sixers don't exactly have a Lebron or Russ hanging around their squad. No offense to Tobias or the tenuous status of Simmons. THAT being said, no denying Embiid is a risky pick - which is why I made sure to have 2 strong backups with Myles Turner and Richaun Homes.
Of course with my luck, the Sixers acquire Dame and now I have Dame + Embiid cannibalizing each others stats

I'm doing 2 drafts next weekend - live draft 21st and online draft 22nd - and I'm not even remotely prepared.
I think the worst part of having pick #11 in a slow draft is that wait of 20 picks between my picks is excruciating and you see people in your queue go slowly but surely. One time I had a list of 5 guys with 7 picks left and no joke, all 5 went and I was like "ummmmm, what do I do now?"

yea, pretty much like I had all my hopes of drafting Drummond then was thrown off..but I wasn't prepared
I'll print out the ESPN.com fantasy rankings and study them and then I'll get in the mood. I've finished 1st, 2nd, 1st, 10(last), 2nd the last 5 years. I've gone with the "wait on a QB late" plan..so we'll see

On top of the guy who was 1st overall (and drafted on the turns) averaged about 9-9 1/2 of his allotted 12 hours per pick. Couple times he made 1 pick on the turn and disappeared for another 3-4 hours before making the second pick of the turn.

I have work projects to deal with, class Wednesday and Thursday night and an all-day event Friday. With 2 drafts Saturday and Sunday, I'm honestly thinking this is another year of just printing out draft rankings and rolling with minimal preparation. Granted that didn't work out well for my last season but last season seemed worse with injuries than usual.
