I'm sure it will play out fine..but sounds confusing. Will be a must watch weekend.

Sources: 2020 NBA All-Star reserves:
East: Jimmy Butler, Kyle Lowry, Ben Simmons, Khris Middleton, Jayson Tatum, Bam Adebayo, Domas Sabonis
West: Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Nikola Jokic, Rudy Gobert, Brandon Ingram, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul
-----------------------------
Not sure how CP3 gets in over KAT or Devin Booker. Also think you can make a case for Derrick Rose over Sabonis but I understand that one.

Kat missed a ton of games and they suck royally..I wouldn't have gave him nothing. So I dont think he was near a snub.
Book..yea..sucks for him and Bradley Beal..but empty big stats on bad teams.
Was hoping Rose would make it.

Actually..KAT missed 17 games, and the 30 games he has played..they are 9-21. And lost like 15 straight.

I understand about missing games. That's a valid argument. Empty stats though I think one can argue Trae Young. Granted he was voted in by fans but he'd like be a reserve if he wasn't and he's on the worst team in the East.
Zach LaVine is another name. Bulls are only 3 games out of the 8th seed and he's having a solid year for them.

Personally I don't have an issue with Paul making it.
His individual stats aren't eye-popping (17.1ppg 5.0rpg 6.5apg 1.6spg 47.8fg%) but he has not missed a game this season due to injury and is a huge reason why the Thunder are overachieving at 29-20, for a team many thought would tank. I mean, SGA, Gallo, Schroder, Adams are good too.....
I also think that Paul being 34 and having not made an All-Star game since 2016, this was kind of also a gesture as to it likely being his last one.

The 2020 NBA All-Star Game will tribute Kobe and Giannia Bryant: Team LeBron (James) wearing the No. 2 and Team Giannis (Antetokounmpo) wearing the No. 24.

Nice, it was suggested 8 and 24 but that's nice to see
Already see some of the pictures of tonights game. They are going all out. Melo didn't make the trip. He was suppose to have dinner with Kobe last night and Kobe was going to the game tonight. tragic

I hope they choose Ja over Booker. As salty as Booker was about not making it..I hope they pass on him again.

Phoenix guard Devin Booker has been named by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to replace injured Portland guard Damian Lillard on Team LeBron in the 2020 NBA All-Star Game. Booker will also replace Lillard in the 3-Point Contest.

I'd rather have seen SGA make it. His stats aren't as gaudy as Booker/Morant but he's the leading scorer on a surprising 32-22 team.
I see that as more All-Star worthy than the dude racking up stats on a crap Suns squad for the 4th year in a row. Clearly he isn't an actual "star" since the guy can't get his team anywhere.

I think what holds SGA being in consideration is Chris Paul. You can make a case he should've been picked over Paul. So they probably weren't going to reward 2 players on the 7th seed in the West. If that's the case, you can probably make an argument for guys like Jamal Murray who is 19 ppg and 5apg on the 2nd best team in the West.
Not shocked by Booker. Suns are crappy, after starting the season out hot, but he's been All-Star worthy arguably the last 3 seasons including this year. I would've liked to see Ja Morant but I also think that's largely in part to how Ja plays versus if he is actually worthy over those guys.

I would have been fine with Murray as well. Not shocked by Booker but he was far from my first choice to replace Lillard, especially after him whining.
I guess I'm old school in that in the past the All-Star selection used to be more about who was on the winning teams versus who put up numbers on bad teams. I'd rather have 2 guys on a 32-22 team than 1 guy on a 22-33 team.
I look back at 1997-1998 when the Lakers had Kobe, Shaq, Eddie and Van Exel. Yeah Kobe was voted in without really deserving it but they still chose Eddie/Nick despite not boasting amazing stats. Or the Pistons from 2005-2006 when they had Chauncey, Rip, Ben and Sheed where all 4 were selected as reserves. Obviously 4 players from one team is a rarity that goes to truly dominant teams but more so to point examples of a time where teams were awarded for success and players were awarded for sacrificing numbers for said success.

I'd rather have 2 guys on a 32-22 team than 1 guy on a 22-33 team. I totally get it. I'm kinda this way too but I had a friend who brought up a good point with me regarding All-Star selection. Fans don't really get to see how good a lot of players are on on small market teams. Especially the bad ones. So even if it's for a day with little to no defense, fans get to see how good Devin Booker is against other elite players. So do you rather see Jamal Murray vs Kemba Walker or Devin Booker vs Kemba Walker? My competitiveness makes me forget it's really a fan centered event and not an indictment of how well teams are doing. Case in point, LeBron James started the All-Star game last year on a sub .500 Lakers team and no one suggested he should pull out despite being voted in the fans. Plus it makes me wonder how much not being voted in affects those teams. Would a person like KAT want to leave Minny? Because despite how well he plays, it hasn't translated to success team-wise or individually. Same with Booker. I'm not saying individual goals should trump winning but whenever this guys come available or flirt with free agency, we automatically assume they want a bigger market for more exposure.

3pt contest - great. Knowing Hield was a huge Kobe fan had me rooting for him and that finish was great TV
Skills Challenge - great. Gotta love how skilled big men are these days.
Dunk Contest - controversial ending aside, great. Yes, even Howard with his goofy dunks. His first dunk in slow mo was hilarious.
ASG - great. Love the new format. But yes it needs tweaks. Ending on an AD free throw was very anti-climactic.

Probably one of the better ASW in a while. Sucks for Gordon but as a fan, it was entertaining.
Definitely love the draw of the ASG ending. Adds in that competitive angle at the end. Totally agree it shouldn't end on a free throw.
